If you have never been to South Australia for a holiday, it's time that you did. Some of the attractions on display here rank with the best that Australia has to offer. The state has a temperate climate and scenery that ranges from pure desert through fertile agricultural country to wild and windswept coastal regions. The scenery changes so much from region to region that it is like visiting a number of different countries. The capital is Adelaide and this is one of Australia's most cosmopolitan cities. It has a busy domestic airport with regular flights from all other Australian capitals. It is a superb place to have a campervan or motorhome holiday and the choices for organized tours through South Australia are really tempting. There are plenty of things to do in Adelaide but it is also the jumping off point for the "Ghan" which is the transcontinental passenger train that terminates in Darwin and crosses the country via Alice Springs and has options to tour out to Ayers Rock.
